Is it possible to use some DirectX feature to draw one or more sprites to a small, temporary pixel buffer, and then draw the resulting buffer to the screen?

For example, I have two sprites, "A" and "B".
I want to draw "A" to the temporary buffer, then draw "B" to the temporary buffer but rotated.
Then I want to draw the buffer to the screen but scaled in one dimension.

Here is an illustration:

The "green check" column is what I want to appear on screen, but I currently have no idea how to make that happen.

The best I can do now is what is shown in the "red cross" column.
I can draw "A" to the screen scaled down in one dimension, and then draw "B" to the screen scaled down in one dimension and rotated.

Any advice is appreciated! :D
